What is the Education Symposium?

As Alabama enters an important election year, this year’s symposium will place a special focus on the power of civic engagement and the role voting plays in shaping the future of our schools and communities. Policies that impact funding, curriculum, leadership, and accountability are often determined through decisions made at the ballot box. This convening will help families better understand how their voices—and their votes—can influence the educational landscape for generations to come.

Throughout the symposium, participants will hear from a dynamic group of leaders and practitioners through a series of panel discussions featuring state legislators, local and county leaders, school system administrators, superintendents, parents, and students. These conversations will explore the intersection of education policy, community leadership, and family engagement while providing practical insight into how communities can work together to support student success.

In addition to thought-provoking discussions, the symposium will create space for meaningful dialogue, networking, and collaboration among families, educators, advocates, and policymakers who share a commitment to ensuring that every child in Alabama has access to a high-quality education.
