CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 1, 2026) – The National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF) honored Robert Enlow, the President and CEO of the nonprofit EdChoice, with the Virginia Walden Ford Parent Empowerment Award this week.
Enlow has served as CEO of EdChoice since 2009 and was honored for his decades of work supporting parents, advocates, and leaders working to expand educational opportunity. Named for pioneering advocate Virginia Walden Ford in 2025, the award honors individuals who dedicate their careers to helping families find the right learning environments for their children and whose advocacy embodies aspiration, inspiration, and joy.
“Robert has played an essential role in transforming the K–12 education landscape over the past three decades, and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for his dedication to families, for his friendship, and for his service to our broader movement,” said Andrew Campanella, NSCAF’s chairman and CEO.
NSCAF also recognized the nonprofit Black Alabamians for Education as NSCAF’s Organization of the Year and Cheryl Tusken of the Frontier Institute as NSCAF’s Partner of the Year.
Black Alabamians for Education, led by Founder and Executive Director Neonta Williams, was recognized for its work equipping and empowering Black families to navigate the K–12 education system through parent information sessions, community organizing, and education policy engagement.
Cheryl Tusken was recognized for helping Montanian families navigate their education options and for her continued contributions to the broader school choice network in her role as K–12 education policy and outreach leader at the Frontier Institute.
“Over the past several years, we have seen incredible growth in education options in Alabama and Montana, and the leaders who helped drive these expansions––Neonta and her team at Black Alabamians for Education and Cheryl at the Frontier Institute––are now doing so much to help families successfully explore them,” Campanella said.
The awards were announced at the second annual NSCAF Summit in Carlsbad, California. The annual Summit provides an opportunity for education leaders, advocates, and partners to exchange ideas, share experiences, strengthen connections, and celebrate the work happening year-round to inform and support families. The NSCAF Summit will continue bringing together attendees from across the country committed to helping families learn about the K–12 education options available and bridge the school choice awareness gaps in their communities.
